Random Musings: I am NOT my Skin!!

Standard

This was on my heart Today and I felt compelled to share: It may trigger some and perhaps inspire others but it is my TRUTH! I Am NOT My Skin….

My Human experience is not limited to or defined by the color of my skin. As gloriously beautiful as my sun-kissed melanin-rich brown skin may be it alone does not inherently decide my path.

My exquisite brown skin, while divinely designed, determines not my Value, my Character, my Future, my Creativity, my Intelligence, my Beauty, my Strength, my Ability, my Courage, my Contribution, the expansiveness of my Spirit, the depth of my Love, nor the Capacity of my Mind to manifest. It is not the sum total of My Worth! To think otherwise diminishes the potentiality of the Powerful(l) spirit that is Me.

While those things may be influenced by the multitude of circumstances and experiences that I have been exposed to, many beyond the scope of my control, and may shape my journey; they have absolutely NO POWER to decide my ultimate fate. That decision and choice reside only with ME!

I will not perpetuate a spirit of hate or fear, nor support instilling a complex of inferiority or victim mindset. I will not villainize or condemn all of the other beautiful shades of the rainbow due to the crimes against humanity inflicted by some beings colored in that shade.

Nor do I subscribe to inspiring an over-inflated stance of superiority or sense of entitlement based solely on skin tone into the hearts and minds of those whose skin is painted a brilliant shade of brown or any other shade for that matter.

Yes, You Matter, and You Matter, & You Matter simply because you “ARE” & you “EXIST” because you woke up this morning and YOU ARE HERE!! Because you are a Divine Being finding your way through this Human Experience ….Not because of your color, your system of belief, your race, your religion, your sexuality, your economic class, your education, your size, your history, your culture, your relationship status, how you live, how you love, what you eat, how you speak, where you were born, your challenges, your maltreatment, your triumphs, successes, or failures…but for no other reason than You being YOU!!!

I will NEVER give my POWER to BE Any and Everything that I dream and desire over to some preconceived notion or stereotype of who I Am or ought to be. Nobody that has come, is here now, or will ever Be gets to determine my Journey but the GOD in ME!

Outside factors may provide a palette of colorful experience but I and I alone get to paint my world and I choose to paint mine POWERFULLY BEAUTIFUL while proudly donning skin in a Beautiful shade of Chocolate Brown!!

Random Musings: How To Control A Nation

Standard

Control A Nation

“Divide and Conquer is how a small group continues to maintain power and control over the population. We will continue to be controlled because of our emotions and reactions to the situations often created for us and then played out using puppets on the world stage. This control mechanism to divide people and cause infighting among their larger populations has been utilized for eons.

This age old technique works and is being played out on us like a game of chess. It’s the “how” and the “why” we are not coming together and uniting against discrimination, terrorism, & all crimes against humanity. The reality is that they are all diversionary tactics that keep people on the defensive and fighting. Creating the illusion that each side of a perspective is an enemy to the others way of life. Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.

We must rid ourselves of the illusion of division and practice more tolerance and empathy. Understand that Tolerance is not acceptance and does not represent agreeing with, condoning, or supporting other people’s perspectives and view points but more so is the act necessary to protect every beings right to have said perspective even if it differs. The Oppression of One, Is the Oppression of All. The price of the democratic way of life is a growing appreciation of people’s differences, not merely as tolerable, but as the essence of a rich and rewarding human experience. The capacity for getting along with our neighbor depends to a large extent on the capacity for getting along with ourselves. The self-aware and self-respecting individual will try to be as tolerant of his neighbor’s shortcomings as he is of his own as the wise man knows that the understanding you extend today is the same understanding you may need to receive tomorrow. None of us are exempt from the possibility of tyranny.

Ultimately, the Worlds answer to the intolerant man is diversity, the very diversity which the pursuit of freedom worldwide since the beginning of time has inspired over and over again.” ~ Shared with Love from the Heart of Twin Spirit

“We need to promote greater tolerance and understanding among the people of the world. Nothing can be more dangerous to our efforts to build peace and development than a world divided along religious, ethnic or cultural lines. In each nation, and among all nations, we must work to promote unity based on our shared humanity.” – Kofi Annan

Inside”The Angry Eye” -Exercise in Discrimination

Standard

‪#‎WATCH‬ & ‪#‎SHARE‬ if you feel Inspired ~ The Angry Eye: with Jane Elliott – A dynamic and provocative documentary film, showcasing Jane Elliott’s world famous Blue-eyed/Brown-eyed exercise in discrimination. During the exercise participants from various backgrounds experience the same kind of racist treatment African Americans and other minority groups have been receiving for years. “The Angry Eye” provides stiff medicine on the psychological assumptions propagated by racist/discriminatory attitudes and behavior.

This is essentially a video recording (shot at Bard College) of Jane Elliott’s group exercise. “The Angry Eye” is a very poignant, blunt look at racism & discrimination in America. This exercise represents a small simulation of what black people have felt for generations, Elliott contends, and with an intensely raw method of execution, she drills her point home.

People in this workshop have the choice to leave and ignore inequalities, but people of color and other groups deemed minorities continue to experience and fight against racism & discrimination every day .

Per Jane Elliott she has no intention of retiring until prejudice and discrimination are eradicated from our society. “Does that mean I have a job for life?” she sighs. “I think it does.” Elliott takes no joy in such job security. The sensitizing exercise, in which participants are labeled inferior or superior based on the color of their eyes, began in a third-grade classroom in all-white, all-Christian Riceville, Iowa, immediately after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Taking pigmentation – in this case, eye color – as an arbitrary dividing line, she builds a microcosm of contemporary American society. With startling force and emotional intensity, Elliott demonstrates the effects of racial prejudice, compelling her more privileged participants to live in another world for the longest two and a half hours of their lives. Those who have been through this exercise have said it is an emotionally significant and life-changing experience. This ground breaking exercise is the pinnacle of all other diversity programming in the country today.

Random Musings: Find Your “HOW” & Execute!

Standard

Find Your HOW“There is, perhaps, nothing more common to the Human Experience than conflict. It often stems from varied perspectives on a situation; differing belief systems and values resulting from a persons accumulated life experiences and conditioning; and differing objectives and interests.

There is one thing in this life that I know for sure. It is that I will never fully understand everyone’s perspectives on this journey but I do respect their right to have them. I may not live, love, emote, see, express, feel, grieve, respond, look, or think as you do but that doesn’t make me any more or less human than you.

The truth is that we were all born into our histories. We did not earn the accolades that are associated nor the shames. We have no true recollection of where the strife began nor do we fully know where to point the finger or know each individual who is to blame because we were not there. We can repeat the stories shaped and retold over the decades. Handed down generation to generation but we can never be for certain of the total and complete truth. All we know for sure is the current pain and suffering being caused by deeply ingrained hurts and fears birthed from belief systems with roots so deeply embedded that they have cut off our ability to see that in all of our differences, that this is what makes us beautiful as a human race.

This is the point at which we stand. This is where the “Real Power” lies….We can choose to spend the remainder of our existence on this planet blaming and destroying one another for all the ills that plague us and fighting ghost of the past or we can simply chose to do something different. Singularly or Collectively.

Effectively dealing with conflict requires the expression and management of peoples varying perspectives, interests, belief systems and values. It is important to meet people exactly where they are. Hear from them fully before trying to lead them anywhere. You can not effectively move toward resolution until each party experiences themselves to be heard on “their perspective,” “what they want,” and “why.”

Conflict arises when one or more person views the current system as NOT working. At least one party or group is so sufficiently dissatisfied with the status quo that they are willing to own the conflict and speak up with the hope of being able to influence the situation to arrive at an improved condition. Conflict may be viewed as a process we must put ourselves through to achieve a “New Conditions” and “Self Definition. Through conflict we have opportunities to be creatively self-defining. If nothing else, conflict allows us to do things differently in the future. Through the resolution of conflict, we can, if we choose, evolve and redefine ourselves, our relationships, our community, our society and our world. It is no accident that we most often find ourselves in conflict with those with whom we spend the most time. While uncomfortable and often painful, there is a great benefit, in terms of the quality of our lives, in being able to constructively resolve conflict with those around us.

The biggest challenge is always the “HOW”.

Now is the time to formulate and execute the HOW.

All of our how’s may be different but they are all needed. Together they are more Impactful.

Find your “HOW” and execute.

Don’t waste energy or time dissecting someone else’s HOW, that only creates more division.

FOCUS on Your “HOW” and Execute!!

I choose to execute my HOW’s with LOVE and Razor sharp precision….

Random Musings: Please…Stop the Hate!!

Standard

In this together

“It is so easy to draw conclusions and judge others when you do not know their story or fully understand the reasons why they do the things they do. It is easy to condemn, put down, & ridicule those who walk a different path. We all do it….

Though it is human to evaluate people & situations we encounter based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are seldom unaffected by our own fears, experiences, our own preconceptions, & limited perspectives. As such, our judgments are frequently incomplete. If we explored a bit more deeply into the heart of the tendency to categorize and criticize, we would often find our own personal insecurity.

Recognizing that we limit our awareness by assessing others critically can make moving past our initial impressions much easier. Judgments seldom leave room for alternate possibilities.

We often Empower our own Self Image through Disempowering others.

Harsh judgment and anger is far worse for the heart than any plaque or cholesterol laden food. To judge one moment in time, without regard for the past or what is to come in the future, lacks wisdom.

None of us enjoy being Judged, but we dole out hasty & often hateful judgements to others on a regular basis. We all want to be heard, understood, and accepted, so isn’t it humorous that we often chose not to extend those same courtesies to others.

Learn to Listen to each other’s story; find some compassion; judge less and love more…starting with yourself. Judge Less & Accept More. To Accept (to receive or acknowledge something) does not mean you Agree (harmonize in opinion, feeling, or view). To enable connection, one must be willing to accept the ideas of other people as, at the very least, true for them.

We will likely never all agree about our belief systems or life choices for that matter, and while it is great to build a network of people who do view the world and other lifestyle choices the same way you do, we also need to respect those who choose to live or believe in a way we disagree with… without being arrogant or judgmental in our interactions.

As the greatest cause of Dis-Ease in man is often the heavy servings of guilt, condemnation, judgement, impatience, intolerance, & lack of love that we feed one another on a daily basis.” – Shared with Love, Twin Spirit  ❦

Random Musings: No “Them” & “Us”

Standard

10398565_10153340789421846_417423246260635975_n

“We often forget what truly matters and is really important in life. In our quest for validation and acceptance from the masses we waste so much precious time and energy. We flash our money, our degrees, our bodies, our titles, our social status, our belief systems, & our accomplishments. We wear them as badges of honor. We honestly believe that the sum total of these things equal our Worth and we measure ourselves & the rest of the world against this illusion of standards we have set so firmly in place. Though we often deny it…we are so hungry for real connection yet we do the very things that keep us separated, lonely, and empty. In our quest for respect and our thirst for retribution we forget that real transformative Power & Value lies in the simplest thing. That thing my friend is KINDNESS! More than anything else, it is a way of living and walking through life. It is a way of dealing with all that is–our selves, our bodies, our dreams and goals, our neighbors, our competitors, our enemies, our air, our earth, our animals, our space, our time, and our very consciousness. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves. Each kindness changes the world. There is no “THEM” & “US”. We will either learn to survive together or we will perish together. The choice is and always has been ours…Shared with Love” ~ Twin Spirit
