Random Musings: How To Control A Nation

Control A Nation

“Divide and Conquer is how a small group continues to maintain power and control over the population. We will continue to be controlled because of our emotions and reactions to the situations often created for us and then played out using puppets on the world stage. This control mechanism to divide people and cause infighting among their larger populations has been utilized for eons.

This age old technique works and is being played out on us like a game of chess. It’s the “how” and the “why” we are not coming together and uniting against discrimination, terrorism, & all crimes against humanity. The reality is that they are all diversionary tactics that keep people on the defensive and fighting. Creating the illusion that each side of a perspective is an enemy to the others way of life. Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.

We must rid ourselves of the illusion of division and practice more tolerance and empathy. Understand that Tolerance is not acceptance and does not represent agreeing with, condoning, or supporting other people’s perspectives and view points but more so is the act necessary to protect every beings right to have said perspective even if it differs. The Oppression of One, Is the Oppression of All. The price of the democratic way of life is a growing appreciation of people’s differences, not merely as tolerable, but as the essence of a rich and rewarding human experience. The capacity for getting along with our neighbor depends to a large extent on the capacity for getting along with ourselves. The self-aware and self-respecting individual will try to be as tolerant of his neighbor’s shortcomings as he is of his own as the wise man knows that the understanding you extend today is the same understanding you may need to receive tomorrow. None of us are exempt from the possibility of tyranny.

Ultimately, the Worlds answer to the intolerant man is diversity, the very diversity which the pursuit of freedom worldwide since the beginning of time has inspired over and over again.” ~ Shared with Love from the Heart of Twin Spirit

“We need to promote greater tolerance and understanding among the people of the world. Nothing can be more dangerous to our efforts to build peace and development than a world divided along religious, ethnic or cultural lines. In each nation, and among all nations, we must work to promote unity based on our shared humanity.” – Kofi Annan

Inside”The Angry Eye” -Exercise in Discrimination

‪#‎WATCH‬ & ‪#‎SHARE‬ if you feel Inspired ~ The Angry Eye: with Jane Elliott – A dynamic and provocative documentary film, showcasing Jane Elliott’s world famous Blue-eyed/Brown-eyed exercise in discrimination. During the exercise participants from various backgrounds experience the same kind of racist treatment African Americans and other minority groups have been receiving for years. “The Angry Eye” provides stiff medicine on the psychological assumptions propagated by racist/discriminatory attitudes and behavior.

This is essentially a video recording (shot at Bard College) of Jane Elliott’s group exercise. “The Angry Eye” is a very poignant, blunt look at racism & discrimination in America. This exercise represents a small simulation of what black people have felt for generations, Elliott contends, and with an intensely raw method of execution, she drills her point home.

People in this workshop have the choice to leave and ignore inequalities, but people of color and other groups deemed minorities continue to experience and fight against racism & discrimination every day .

Per Jane Elliott she has no intention of retiring until prejudice and discrimination are eradicated from our society. “Does that mean I have a job for life?” she sighs. “I think it does.” Elliott takes no joy in such job security. The sensitizing exercise, in which participants are labeled inferior or superior based on the color of their eyes, began in a third-grade classroom in all-white, all-Christian Riceville, Iowa, immediately after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Taking pigmentation – in this case, eye color – as an arbitrary dividing line, she builds a microcosm of contemporary American society. With startling force and emotional intensity, Elliott demonstrates the effects of racial prejudice, compelling her more privileged participants to live in another world for the longest two and a half hours of their lives. Those who have been through this exercise have said it is an emotionally significant and life-changing experience. This ground breaking exercise is the pinnacle of all other diversity programming in the country today.

Random Musings: Find Your “HOW” & Execute!

Find Your HOW“There is, perhaps, nothing more common to the Human Experience than conflict. It often stems from varied perspectives on a situation; differing belief systems and values resulting from a persons accumulated life experiences and conditioning; and differing objectives and interests.

There is one thing in this life that I know for sure. It is that I will never fully understand everyone’s perspectives on this journey but I do respect their right to have them. I may not live, love, emote, see, express, feel, grieve, respond, look, or think as you do but that doesn’t make me any more or less human than you.

The truth is that we were all born into our histories. We did not earn the accolades that are associated nor the shames. We have no true recollection of where the strife began nor do we fully know where to point the finger or know each individual who is to blame because we were not there. We can repeat the stories shaped and retold over the decades. Handed down generation to generation but we can never be for certain of the total and complete truth. All we know for sure is the current pain and suffering being caused by deeply ingrained hurts and fears birthed from belief systems with roots so deeply embedded that they have cut off our ability to see that in all of our differences, that this is what makes us beautiful as a human race.

This is the point at which we stand. This is where the “Real Power” lies….We can choose to spend the remainder of our existence on this planet blaming and destroying one another for all the ills that plague us and fighting ghost of the past or we can simply chose to do something different. Singularly or Collectively.

Effectively dealing with conflict requires the expression and management of peoples varying perspectives, interests, belief systems and values. It is important to meet people exactly where they are. Hear from them fully before trying to lead them anywhere. You can not effectively move toward resolution until each party experiences themselves to be heard on “their perspective,” “what they want,” and “why.”

Conflict arises when one or more person views the current system as NOT working. At least one party or group is so sufficiently dissatisfied with the status quo that they are willing to own the conflict and speak up with the hope of being able to influence the situation to arrive at an improved condition. Conflict may be viewed as a process we must put ourselves through to achieve a “New Conditions” and “Self Definition. Through conflict we have opportunities to be creatively self-defining. If nothing else, conflict allows us to do things differently in the future. Through the resolution of conflict, we can, if we choose, evolve and redefine ourselves, our relationships, our community, our society and our world. It is no accident that we most often find ourselves in conflict with those with whom we spend the most time. While uncomfortable and often painful, there is a great benefit, in terms of the quality of our lives, in being able to constructively resolve conflict with those around us.

The biggest challenge is always the “HOW”.

Now is the time to formulate and execute the HOW.

All of our how’s may be different but they are all needed. Together they are more Impactful.

Find your “HOW” and execute.

Don’t waste energy or time dissecting someone else’s HOW, that only creates more division.

FOCUS on Your “HOW” and Execute!!

I choose to execute my HOW’s with LOVE and Razor sharp precision….
