Steady tryna cage me
want to euthanaise me
but my mind is free.
can somebody save me
and set the people free.
Fear is what they feed you
that way they can lead you
away from your salvation
into their treachery.
Awaken from your slumber
completeness is the number
They try to take us under
but Love will Us free.
TRUE FREEDOM lies within
“Every human has four endowments – self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination.
These give us the ultimate human freedom. . . the power to choose, to respond, to change.” ~ Stephen Covey
“Real freedom lies way too deep within us, knotted and rolled up into the tiniest possible speck in some far, inaccessible corner of our mind. But even that completely suppressed tiny dot of freedom keeps exerting its pressure. The problem is not in finding and following it, that is easy. It is that we have forgotten how to understand or interpret that instinct, thanks to the zillions of dos and don’ts we grow up on. Our inability to feel what we must and what is obvious, without distorting it needlessly has been crushed so well that we are unable to trust our own instincts but those that are laid down by someone else. Freedom, thus, becomes this exotic, romantic dream that begins to scare us. And we look at others to ape and follow, hoping we will find freedom one day… if not in this life, then maybe in the imaginary ‘next’ or, perhaps, death.
We wait and wait and when we cannot, we try to take a few steps on our own only to retract them and walk back on the line… for it can be as scary as a night in a forest or, perhaps, not what we want it to be. Our selfish perspectives try to reduce it to fit our greed and desires. And that means that we haven’t really broken out of that box wherein our thoughts are crammed for ages making us believe that this is it.
Open the box, break the line and all hell breaks loose. And hell is entirely within and around us. It comes from our well-wishers (also read as society and family) and from within as a conflict between instincts and what is taught. The outcome of one’s step towards freedom is, therefore, likely to be pain … the pain of overcoming one’s own fears and the pain actually inflicted by others for they are scared when we break the line.
But mavericks have broken it and so have saints and all those who had the courage to walk beyond the first few steps. It is not difficult to walk that free wavering path even if it is dark. The only problem is that it will come without the luxuries and the perception of growing upwards (in terms of status, among others) that one is so used to.
Freedom is actually nothing but the ability of being without fear and doing what one wants in life.
And it sure is a lot of hard work… much harder than any job or career you can chose.
It is not a more ecstatic space but merely an acceptance of one’s being without worrying about the lines to tow. That is when freedom and nirvana cease to lure you because it would not matter any more.” ~ Parvez Imam
